About Wold Wold
Years ago, I downloaded a fun game recommended by John Gruber. It was called Strategery. It’s a Risk-esque strategy game. There are a million knockoffs, but it was the best. And I played it over and over, until it stopped working.
So I had an idea: remake it, but with the gameplay parts I like, and leave out the rest I didn’t use. The result is Wold Wold. Wold is my last name, and it also means treeless tracts of land or hills; fitting for a game like this.
Lex Friedman (my favorite one) did an awesome thing. He remade it too, and I love how he went about it. But the version he shipped (even with Classic mode) still isn’t the exact way I’d want to play it. So I kept going and shipped my own.
It’s an homage to Strategery, and as such I don’t think it’d be right to charge for it. Seriously, if you like this version, please go buy Strategery. It’s worth every penny.
